Summary of Civilization:
Maya population was in general very small, and very few of the Mayas permanently lived in the urban centers.
They say that the mayan people were wiped out in between the 8th and 9th century. Geography:
The ancient Maya civilization occupied the eastern third of Mesoamerica.
They think that the maya died out from severe droughts, because no water means no food.
The Maya civilization covered lots of land around the present day Yucatan Peninsula, El Salvidor, Belize, Honduras, guatamala, and Southern Parts of Mexico. This area was full of dense rainforest. In order to plant there they had to use a very important method called slash and burn. In the south of the Mayan land there were volacanic mountains, which provided fertile soil. Climate:

They estimate that the climate in the maya tribe has usually always beeen 90 degrees to 120 degrees.
Almost all their urban centers were built in tropical rain forest. Art and Architecture:
They made sculpures out of stucco.And made pottery out of clay.
Mayans made pottery,baskets,colorful toys,and chests,and wooden sculptures of animals.
Culture (Religion, Customs, Food, ect.):
Thier main foods were corn, beans, squash, rice, wheat, chicken, and pigs.the Mayans had over 144 gods. Mayans worshiped different gods in different areas. Each area had it's own special god. When one area took over another they would make that area belive in thier god.
They sacrificed their own people for the sun & moon gods.
They used boards to reshape their heads for fashon.
The Mayans played a ball game that if you lose your head gets cut off. Thi sgame featured a 20 foot high stone hoop. They could only use their hips, knees, and elbows.The loseing team would would be killed! Technology (Farming, hunting?):
From Feb - May was the dry season. The air was hot and unpleasent. During these months the Mayans had cut and burend the fields during this every year cycle of slash and burn agriculture, so they were gatherers and hunters.the Mayam hunted monkeys,deer,birds ect.
